Valley City State University, “What in the World is Going On?”( a community-campus group) and The Barnes County Historical Society are hosting Earth Day activities April 22 in Rhodes Science Center at 1pm and April 24 in the museum at 7pm. Highlights of the Valley City event include a showing of “The Jungle”. An update on the Upton Sinclair 1906 novel on the meat packing industry, this premiered in the Woodstock Film Festival in the fall of 2024 and will premiere in NYC in September. Matt Wechsler, an Emmy nominated director examines the current industrial food system and presents an alternative. “Northern Nights, Starry Skies” and a talk by Patrick Sommers and International Dark Skies delegate will address effects of light pollution. All Valley City events are open to the public without charge and handicap accessible.
