CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Valley City State University will begin offering online graduate courses in communication this spring semester, which begins Jan. 11, 2016.

“We are excited to provide these courses as a service to both high school and college instructors so they can continue providing early entry and college courses to their students,” said Shannon VanHorn, Ph.D., VCSU professor and director of distance learning and faculty development.

According to VanHorn, the courses focus on communication education and integration of theoretical and practical curriculum and praxis that can be integrated easily into the classroom.

Taught by VanHorn and Jonna Ziniel, Ph.D., assistant professor and chair of the VCSU communication arts department, the courses can also be used toward a master’s degree in teaching and technology, with a communication option.

For the next two years, adjunct and full-time faculty at North Dakota University System institutions are eligible to receive a $100 per credit stipend to offset tuition costs for these courses.
