Rockford, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—-The Carrington Cardinal girls basketball team opened the night in New Rockford with the first 15 points of the contest and never looked back in a 76-41 win over their northern rivals. Sophomore guard Haley Hewitt led the Cardinal scoring attack that had 4 girls in double figures with 13 points and also had a game high 7 assists. Emerson Hoornaert, another sophomore guard led the early attack scoring 8 of her 10 points in the opening quarter. Hoornaert would also add 4 assists for the Cards. Ann Endres 11 points and Maara Nelson’s 10 points, 8 rebounds (game high), and 4 assists aided the Cardinal victory. Kauri Hochhalter added 7 points, 4 assists, and tied Nelson with a game high 8 rebounds. The Cards also had 25 bench points, 7 each from Abigail Jarrett and Gracie Page, 6 points for Carmen Pederson, Jill Endres (3), and McKenzie Johnson scored her first varsity points with 2. New Rockford-Sheyenne’s Lizzy Holzworth led all scorers with a game high 19 points. The Rockets fall to 2-4 on the season.
