CITY, N.D. – (NewsDakota.com) Barnes County saved more than a million dollars on a paving contract due to lower oil prices this year.

Barnes County Highway Roads Superintendent Kerry Johnson said the commission accepted Knife River’s $3.4 million bid to mill and overlay nearly 30 miles of roads in Barnes County in the summer of 2016.

Johnson said the estimate of $4.7 million was based on higher oil prices according to KLJ engineer Shawn Mayfield.
