N.D.  (NewsDakota.com)  A high-speed police chase ended in a crash four miles south of Carrington on Friday afternoon.

According to Foster County Sheriff, Ian Mattice, an ambulance from Minot was stolen and driven on Highway 52 at speeds up to 91mph during the pursuit, the ambulance was finally stopped when it crashed head-on into a northbound vehicle on Highway 52/281.  The North Dakota Highway Patrol laid down some stop spikes south of Carrington, the driver of the stolen ambulance swerved to miss the spikes when it hit a northbound vehicle head-on.  The driver of the ambulance fled on foot but was captured, the driver of the northbound vehicle had to be extricated and was transported to Carrington Health Center with injuries, the extent of the injuries are unknown at this time.    

The North Dakota Highway Patrol along with Sheridan, Wells and Foster County Sheriffs Departments and Fessenden, Harvey and Carrington Police Departments all responded.  The Foster County Sherriff said the motive of the driver of the stolen ambulance is unknown at this time and it is unknown if seat-belts were worn.
