FORKS, N.D. (AP) – A state report estimates it will take
at least $1.4 billion in government funding for North Dakota to
recover from flooding in 2011. The Grand Forks Herald reports that
the estimate is included in a recent report compiled by the North
Dakota Department of Emergency Services.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – The end of University of North Dakota
alumnus Jim Kleinsasser’s football career may be the beginning of a
local high school student’s career in medicine. Yesterday was
Kleinsasser’s final game after a 13-year career with the Minnesota
Vikings. The former UND star and his wife, Christa, have been
promoting a $10,000 scholarship, and it was presented to
17-year-old Jacob Greenmyer during pre-game activities.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota resisted the Powerball
lottery’s decision to double its price from $1 to $2 a ticket. The
price increase takes effect January 15th, and lottery director
Randy Miller fears it could reduce ticket sales by more than
one-third. The higher Powerball price is meant to build up bigger
jackpots.
DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) – Adams County Sheriff Gene Molbert has
retired after more than 20 years of working in law enforcement for
the county. Molbert tells the Dickinson Press that it’s time for a
change, and he’s taking a job in North Dakota’s oil patch.
