Lake N.D.- The first game for the Jamestown High School boys hockey team in two weeks featured plenty of variety. Physical play, puck possession battles, and plenty of scoring.
Unfortunately, the Devils Lake Firebirds did the majority of the scoring on Friday night in Devils Lake, as they earned their third victory of the season, by the score of 8-5.
Jamestown scored goals from Jake Stilwell, Alex Williams, Ben Sorenson, Terry Bruns, and Tanner Werkhoven. A goal from Brady Anderson late in the third period was waved off due to a Jamestown player being in the crease. The goals from Sorenson and Bruns were on the powerplay, and Stilwell’s goal, which was the first of the game for either club, was scored shorthanded.
Junior goalie Ben Walz stared in place of Tygh Yatskis for Jamestown, who is dealing with a minor wrist injury.
With the win, Devils Lake improved to 3-6, while Jamestown’s record now stands at 1-6-1. Next up for the Jays is a battle at home Friday night at Wilson Arena, as Bottineau/Rugby comes to Wilson Arena.
