N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Mary Faith Young passed away on Saturday morning, November 14th at her home in Jamestown.
Young, 95, was born May 28th, 1920 on a homestead near Franklin, Montana. She was often referred to as Jamestown’s Historian, as she was a life-long active Preservationist. Young wrote the nomination for the 1883 Stutsman County Courthouse and the St. James Basilica. She was Chairman of Publishing the Centuries of stories and researcher in 1983. She also gave history tours for the 4th graders at the Jamestown schools.
Longtime Jamestown resident Charlie Kourajian remembers Mary as a very active person in the community.
She received many awards throughout her lifetime and will be greatly missed by her family, the community, and many others that she housed and entertained in her home. The community will miss her for all her great contributions to the rich history and programs in Jamestown.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 17th at the St. James Basilica at 10:00 AM.
