(NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown men’s basketball team put Saturday’s disappointing outing behind them quickly and took care of No. 19 Midland, 80-69. In the second of three straight games against ranked opponents, the Jimmies used a surge in the final minutes to pull away.

Trailing 56-55, Jamestown’s Sam Johnson knocked down a triple with under five minutes left to give his team the lead for good. Moments later, the Jimmies had a seven-point possession. A Logan Brown hit from the outside coupled with a Midland technical gave the Jimmies the chance they needed to put the game away.

The Warriors didn’t get closer than five the rest of the way. The two teams will meet again on November 27 in Fremont, NE.

Brown had a career-high 21 to pace UJ. They host Dordt on Friday at 7pm and Northwestern at 3pm on Saturday.
