CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com) – Defense ruled the day, but the Valley City State Vikings got the offense going when they needed it the most. With the game tied at six in the final minute VCSU marched down and Kurtis Walls hit Colby Lum with an eight-yard touchdown to seal the victory over the University of Jamestown.

Its the fourth consecutive win for the Vikings over the Jimmies with a 12-6 victory.

Four field goals were the only scoring plays in the game until Lum’s touchdown with 0:17 left in the fourth. Jamestown lead 3-0 at halftime when Lucas Norblom’s first attempt of the day was blocked on the final snap.

Jamestown’s lone miss was costly as well with just a few minutes left in the game Grant Linde missed from 25-yards away on a kick that would have broken a 6-6 tie.

The Vikings got the ball back in the final minute after the Jimmies stalled on fourth-and-four from the VCSU 38. Two play later, Walls hit John Hansana for a 54-yard gain down the eight-yard line. VCSU punched it in for the game’s lone score.

Jamestown will host Waldrof on Halloween. The Vikings are off until Novemeber 8th’s North Star Bowl.
