CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) -Valley City Police Chief Fred Thompson will be stepping down as police chief in January of 2016. During the October 20th meeting the commission discussed the steps to find a replacement.

David Schelkoph stated that a Job Service request would be made to advertise for a new police chief. Resumes and applications will be taken through the end of November and then interviewing will start in the first part of December.

Thompson stated that he would be moving back to Henderson, Nevada. He pointed out that his time with the department has been good.
