(NewsDakota.com) – Mandan scored on their opening drive and used the big play to their advantage as they raced to a 48-27 win over the Jamestown Blue Jays Thursday night at Ernie Gates Field. The win for the Braves puts them in a win-and-in scenario for the Class AAA playoff next week in their season finale.

Nick Miller carried the ball four times for 62 yards on the opening drive and ran in the games first score on a 24-yard scamper. Miller would leave the game due to injury after blocking a Noah Wanzek punt a few possessions later. The block was returned for a score.

Jamestown answered following the blocked punt with a 45-yard touchdown pass from Andrew Hornung to Logan Anderson. Mandan added another score to go into the break up 20-7.

In the fourth quarter, the Braves hit for two long pass plays when Jake Carlson connected on bombs of 68-yards and 66-yards. Prior to each Jamestown had cut the deficit to just two scores.

The loss drops Jamestown to 1-7. They will wrap up their season next Saturday night at the Bismarck Community Bowl against the Legacy Sabers.
