City, N.D. – A few more Christmas presents will be under the tree for Barnes County children and their families thanks to the Santa Cops & Kids program in Valley City.
On December 19 several law enforcement agencies in the area participated by taking the children for supper at Pizza Corner Pizza.
The group led by several squad cars and emergency personal vehicles drove down main to Pamida to help the kids shop for themselves and their families.
Then it was time for Christmas wrapping and a visit by Santa inside the law enforcement center in Valley City.
Each year a different set of children and their families are selected for the Santa Cops & Kids program.
Co-event coordinator Valley City Sergeant David Swenson says it’s a wonderful program to help less fortunate children and their families have a better Christmas each year in Barnes County.
Officers with the Highway Patrol, Valley City, Jamestown & Lisbon police departments along with Barnes, Ransom, Stutsman Counties and Emergency Medical Personal and a number of volunteers in the community helped with the Santa Cops & Kids event in Valley City
