N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The official vote on the Jamestown Public School District $19 million bond referendum has failed.
Unofficial numbers from the voting were 1,138 votes approving and 813 votes against. The measure failed due to majority. 60% was needed for approval, but only 58% yes votes were received which is just 33 yes votes shy. Superintendent Robert Lech asked if voters didn’t feel informed or if the price tag was too high and that now they need to get a sense of why people voted no.
Officials will now be discussing whether the district will hold another referendum or look at another way to address the issue of growth in the district.
