CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City Hi-Liner boys tennis team had the play in match against the West Fargo Packers yesterday in Valley City. The Hi-Liners would win 4-1 over West Fargo. Results are below:

1S:  Brandon miller lost to Joe Beske 6-1,6-4

2S:  Hunter Burchill beat Evan Poppenhagen 6-2,6-2

3S:  Liam Williams beat Mohammed Mohammed 6-0,6-1

1D:  Dalton Ondracek/Collin White beat Rashad Advani/Pod Kavasser 6-3,6-2

2D:  Riley Miller/Dempsey Williams beat Het Mehta/Sohom Mallik 6-1,6-2

Thoughts:

Our line-up paid dividends, winning handily at the spots we expected with also an unexpected blow out victory at 3 singles.  We thought Liam playing at 3 singles would be a tough spot for him, but he dropped only one game on the day and was the first match off the court.  He kept playing consistent and it paid off.  Great job Liam solidifying the win for us today. 

Brandon lost at #1 singles, but we knew that would be a tough match.  He came back in the 2nd set, but fell short against a very good opponent.

Hunter and both doubles teams were expected to win and they took care of business in short order.  In those matches, we dropped a total of 12 games.

We are off to regionals on Thursday with this win.  We will play Red River, the #1 seed, in the first round.
