N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Residents are being asked to join the hundreds of thousands of people participating in the “Out of the Darkness” walks across the nation by attending one right here in Jamestown.
Margo Haut is a chairperson for this year’s event. She stated that the walks were created in order to help raise awareness of suicide and silence the stigma.
The event will be raising awareness of suicide as well as help raise funds for local organizations and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
Committee Member Monte Rodacker stated that another reason these events are so important is because of the thought process behind depression and suicide.
Committee Member Tara McGregor joined the cause because she has experienced the loss of a loved one due to suicide.
The walk is scheduled for September 12th at 9:00 AM at McElroy Park in Jamestown. There is no cost to register. Individuals can pre-register by calling Margo Haut at 701-269-2741 or email mhaut@csicable.net.
