N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The 2016 budget for the city of Jamestown has begun discussions and the preliminary budget currently shows a 5% increase in both property taxes and all city-operated utilities.

The revised budget shows revenues of $7.99 million and expenditures of $7.96 million. The plan also includes a 1.25% cost of living increase and a 2.5% step raise for all employees not in a probation period. The council has cut requested additional police officers, firefighters, and staff for the city engineers. Those issues would have to be addressed in the next budget cycle.

The budget will be officially introduced on September 8th.
