S.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) women’s cross country preseason polls were announced on Monday. Jamestown (N.D.) is the preseason favorite to win the league title, voted by the head coaches. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.
The Jimmies, who claimed the 2015 NSAA conference title at the NAIA’s unaffiliated conference meet last November, collected five first-place votes with 25 points for a first-place in the poll. Viterbo (Wis.) picked up the final first-place vote.
The V-Hawks and Dickinson State (N.D.) are both tied for second in the preseason poll with 19 points. Dakota State (S.D.) was picked to finish fourth with 12 points, followed by Valley City State (N.D.) fifth with 10 points and Waldorf (Iowa) sixth with 5 points.
The North Star Athletic Association will have an automatic team bid for the NAIA Women’s Cross Country National Championships, which is to be held in Charlotte, N.C. on Nov. 21.
The NSAA Cross Country Conference Championships will be held in Madison, S.D. on November 7th at 11 a.m.
