ND – (NewsDakota.com) Several high-ranking police officials from cities around the country have applied to be Fargo’s next police chief. According to a recent article in the Forum the city of Fargo has received 13 applications.

One candidate is Valley City Police Chief Fred Thompson. He’s been the Valley City Police Chief since July of 2012. Before that, Thompson worked for the Henderson, Nevada Police Department for nearly 29 years.

The city of Fargo will accept applications until August 21. After that, a seven-person selection committee, made up of city officials, police officers and a city resident will narrow the list of applicants to six finalists.

A new police chief could be named by late September or early October. The salary range for the job is $119,000 to $154,000.
