N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – It’s been nearly a week since CHS decided that it would not be building a $3 Billion fertilizer plant at Spiritwood, but the Jamestown Chamber of Commerce is still expecting growth to come.

The Jamestown Chamber of Commerce’s goal is to further the interests of businesses in and around the area and when it was learned that CHS was no longer coming, Executive Director Becky Thatcher-Keller was shocked.

Thatcher-Keller pointed out that the cancellation of the project would allow for focus to shift to other areas of need such as housing and the high number of job openings. She stated that even though it would allow the community to focus on those areas, the project drop is going to be a bump in the road.

She pointed out that since the beginning of the year, 35 new businesses have joined the chamber and she is hopeful for the future.
