N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Representative Jessica Haak has been selected by Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem to be a member of the Human Trafficking Commission.
The 19 member team was established during the last legislative session and has representation from state and local leadership, tribal agencies, law enforcement, victim advocates and is led by Attorney General Stenehjem. The commission is tasked with developing a comprehensive plan to provide victims with services, promote public awareness, and coordinate training on investigation and prosecution.
“I am honored to have been asked by Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem to be a member of the Human Trafficking Commission,” said Haak. “I worked alongside allies such as FUSE North Dakota and CAWS North Dakota, and across the aisle in a bipartisan effort with Senator Dever to provide funds for victims of human trafficking during the legislative session earlier this year. I look forward to continuing our work to end this deplorable crime.”
This past legislative session, Haak cosponsored several pieces of human trafficking legislation, including one that provides $1.25 million for victim’s services.
