Park River 8 Bismarck Capitals 2
In the first of the loser-out games Thursday, Park River scored the first eight runs and never looked back, with everyone who batted reaching base at at least one point in the game. Bismarck pitching gave up a total of five doubles, one of them from Esten Benada.
Benada earned the win, throwing a shutout through five innings, while striking out seven.
Kidder County 6 LaMoure 1
The second loser-out contest saw the host team eliminated from the tournament thanks to Jayden Miller’s performance on the mound. Miller went the complete seven innings, and allowed just five hits while striking out nine. Catcher Dalton Jangula had two hits, and scored a run, while center fielder Jon Harter had a triple, and scored a run.
Post 19 stranded nine runners on base, and Brady Warcken took the loss, going six innings, allowing eight hits, despite striking out nine.
Carrington 13 Oakes 2 (5 innings)
After registering 17 hits Wednesday, Post 25 picked up another 15 hits to move further within the winner’s bracket. Carrington scored two runs in the first, Oakes answered, but Carrington then scored the next 11, chasing Bryce Meehl out of the game after just three and two thirds innings.
Meehl gave up 11 hits, and six of the nine runs that were scored on him were earned. Meanwhile, Braxton Hewitt earned the win, with just the two runs scored on only two hits. Eastin Paeper had two doubles and scored twice, while Conner Wendel had three runs scored along with a double
Nelson County 12 Hatton 0 (5 innings)
Nelson County continues to show why they were thought to be one of the top teams in this tournament as they drilled Central Region champion Hatton, 12-0. Riley Nelson allowed just two hits over five strong innings and the Owls as a team have allowed just four hits in two games.
Brett Salvesen helped put this one away early when he homered in the second inning to push the lead from 5-0 to 7-0.
