N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Fifty mph wind caused numerous power outages across the region last night.

According to Ottertail Power Company, southeast Jamestown along with the downtown business section and other areas of the city were without electricity. Power was back on shortly after the outage.

Customers of Northern Plains Co-Op were also without power north of Jamestown. Debris and tree branches were scattered around the area.

Valley City Electrical Supervisor Marshall Senf said customers in the northeast sector were without power for about 90 minutes last night after strong wind gusts slapped power lines together and caused the outage.

More than 100 Cass County Electric customers were also without power near Pillsbury, North Dakota.

High wind gusts were over 60 mph in western North Dakota prompting oil rigs to shut down to ensure the safety of their workers.

In the Minot area, the wind blew over trailers on U-S Highway 83 and a semitrailer on U-S Highway 52 near Minot.
