N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Increased patrols for impaired driving enforcement in June resulted in 1,207 citizen contacts across the state.
41 law enforcement agencies participated along with the North Dakota Highway Patrol on focused DUI enforcement during summer travel. A total of 870 citations were given with 90 accounting for driving under the influence and 44 drug-related violations. 16 were given for open container and 22 were minors consuming alcohol.
Increased law enforcement is a collaborative effort to eliminate roadway deaths in North Dakota. Alcohol-related crashes and deaths are considered preventable, but caused nearly half of the traffic fatalities in the state last year.
