CITY, ND – Everyone is encouraged to have a Block Party to get to know your neighbors to promote awareness, safety, and neighborhood unity.
Sharon Buhr chair of the City County Health District and ON THE MOVE Partnership said we continue to have many new people moving into the area, and block parties will help us all meet and get to know each other.
Chief Fred Thompson and Fire Chief Gary Retterath are available to bring a police car and fire engine to your block party. City commissioners are available to attend and talk about city issues as well.
Anyone hosting a block party is encouraged to ‘register’ your party by phoning city hall at
845-1700 and ask for Becki Andersen. If you would like your street to be blocked off it is essential that you fill out the registration form at city hall.
Buhr said Valley City will also be joining the 37.8 million neighbors across 16,125 communities in celebration of National Night Out and Block Parties.
The designated night is August 4th, but anytime this summer is a good time to have a neighborhood get together.
