funeral service for Lillian Horsager, 94, Valley City, North Dakota, formerly of Litchville, North Dakota will be 10:30 am Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City, with Rev. Daniel Faust officiating. Burial will be in the North LaMoure Cemetery, rural Litchville. She died Wednesday, June 24, at the Sheyenne Care Center, Valley City.
Visitation will be 5 pm to 7 pm Friday at the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel and one hour before the service in the chapel.
Lillian Avis Tokle was born July 25, 1920 in Lake Park, Iowa, to Emil and Anna (Nygaard) Tokle. She attended school in Iowa and graduated from Excelsior High School, near Lake Park, in 1938. In 1946, she moved with her family to the North LaMoure, ND area, near Litchville.
On December 12, 1946, she married Birger Horsager in Moorhead, MN. They made their home on a farm in Litchville Township, ND. Birger died on November 16, 2009. In 2013, she moved to Valley City.
Lillian enjoyed quilting and gardening, word search and jigsaw puzzles.
She was baptized and confirmed at North LaMoure Lutheran Church where she had been a longtime member until it closed. Lillian was active in the North LaMoure Lutheran Church WELCA and had taught Sunday school.
Lillian is survived by her five daughters and two sons: Linda (Clint) Harriman, Avon, Connecticut; Joan (Roger) Sateren and Jean (George) Miller, all of Lakota, North Dakota; Sonia Kaltvedt, Moorhead, Minnesota; Avis Hovland, Berthold, North Dakota; Neil Horsager and Ernie Horsager, both of Litchville; 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Birger; grandson, Neil Horsager, Jr.; three brothers, Clyde, Lloyd and Ivan; and three sisters, Vivian Arthur, Marie Gray and her twin, Lila Haugen; and a son-in-law Merv Kaltvedt.
