(NewsDakota.com) Anthony Olson allowed one run on three hits, and also had a two-run home run as LaMoure Post 19 defeated Oakes Post 36 4-1 at Townsend Field on Monday night in Class B Southeast Region play.
Olson’s shot to left field came after teammates Brady Warcken and Drew Thielges each hit triples off of Oakes starter Bryce Meehl to start the bottom of the first inning. Post 19 added another run in the second with an RBI single from Warcken that scored Tyler Bliss.
Post 36 did manage to come back in the seventh, as Olson walked three batters, had a balk called against him, and threw a wild pitch which scored Carter Zetocha, but Oakes stranded the bases loaded to end the game, and left seven men on base throughout the course of the contest.
Olson struck out six to earn the win. Meehl struck out nine in the loss. LaMoure stands at 3-4 in the Southeast Region, while Oakes falls to 6-3.
Both teams are back in action on Wednesday, and on the road. LaMoure heads to Enderlin to face Post 221, while Oakes ventures to Lisbon to face Post 7. Coverage of Oakes/Lisbon can be heard on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com, starting around 7:20, with first pitch scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
