CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) Three teaching positions in the Valley City School District will be posted. They include a Kindergarten teacher, a 5th grade teacher and a Family and Consumer Science teacher.
The school board approved of posting the positions. But school board member Ryan Mathias voted against adding a FACS teaching position at this time being the negotiation process with teachers is underway.
But school board member Rick Ross supported filling the position. He said it’s very beneficial to students in the school district.
Superintendent Dean Koppelman said the estimated cost of adding the three positions in the school district is $210,000.
Meanwhile the school districts interim fund fell from a high of 36 percent in April to 25 percent at the end of May. Koppelman said no per pupil revenue flows into the district in May and June due to the state funding formula.
He said a portion of local property tax revenue does come into the school district in May and June and the per pupil payments start in August.
