CITY, ND – The Sheyenne Valley Community Foundation said the Barnes County Historical Society has established an endowment fund with the Community Foundation thanks to a donation from the Charlotte Van Houten Estate. This endowed gift creates an ongoing source of income for the museum.
The North Dakota Legacy Tax Credit allows individuals, businesses, trusts and estates to take advantage of a 40% state tax credit for contributions of over $5,000 to qualified charitable endowment funds.
This fund represents the first Agency Endowed Fund of the newly formed Sheyenne Valley Community Foundation.
Andrea Nelson, Administrator of the Sheyenne Valley Community Foundation said we are delighted to have this opportunity to partner together to serve as a vehicle for philanthropy. She said every dollar earned from the fund is one less that they need to raise to support their mission.
