CITY, ND – A Summer Solstice celebration is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, at Medicine Wheel Park in Valley City in conjunction with “Rally in the Valley.”

About 9:15 p.m. on June 20, there will be a ceremony observing the northernmost sunset of the year at the Medicine Wheel. Plan to arrive early to tour the beautiful 4,000 square foot perennial garden.

After sunset, a dedication of Saturn’s Rings will feature a brief talk by local artist Charles Bowen, the owner of Bowen Welding in Valley City, and his extended family created this beautiful addition to Saturn on the “Walk of the Planets” at the park. The sculpture was installed in May.

Following the dedication, a telescope observing session highlighting the “real” Saturn with its rings and other heavenly bodies will commence during late twilight (weather permitting) with the assistance of Preston Bush, Matt Nielson and Wes Anderson.

Fifth graders from L. E. Berger Elementary in West Fargo posed at the beautiful new rings of Saturn in Medicine Wheel Park along Winter Show Road in Valley City earlier this year.
