CITY, ND – People around North Dakota are honoring fallen soldiers and military veterans on Memorial Day.
Governor Jack Dalrymple has directed all government agencies to fly the U.S. and North Dakota flags at half-staff in observance of the holiday.
This year’s Memorial Day ceremony at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery marks the 25th anniversary of the groundbreaking for the site south of Mandan. The theme of the ceremony hosted by the North Dakota National Guard is “25 Years of Honor.”
In Valley City the High School and Junior High School bands kicked off the day of observance by entertaining the crowd and honored veterans who have served or are still serving our country. Photos below taken by KOVC Radio’s Max Thomas.
