N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown City Council’s Finance & Legal Committee Building, Planning & Zoning Committee met at City Hall last night to discuss several issues.
During the meeting, members approved of re-allocating up to 80 acres for a crew camp near Spiritwood for temporary workforce housing. The property belongs to JSDC and will be available for $600 per acre per year. JSDC’s Connie Ova stated that just 40 acres will be needed for parking. The population is expected to be around 2,250 individuals.
Later in the meeting, discussion was held on the operation of ATVs on city streets. Right now, only police and fire department personnel can operate them within city limits. Police Chief Scott Edinger stated that no larger cities allow residents to use them on the streets and sees no down-side to allowing them in the city with the stipulation of it being proper equipment.
The committee recommended the City Attorney to review the state statutes before the First Reading of an Ordinance revision at the July Council meeting. Any adoption would not apply to golf carts.
