CITY, ND – Valley City Mayor Bob Werkhoven wants to make a correction with the permanent flood protection contract concerning how utilities are being handled during the construction process. He believes the contract doesn’t specify whether the city utilities should be under the dike or over it.
Project manager Chad Petersen of KLJ says the language in the contract is being ironed out with the State Water Commission, the city and KLJ engineering. He says the dikes need to meet U-S Army Corps of Engineer specifications.
Mayor Werkhoven told the commission that there should be no misunderstanding with a project as big as the construction of permanent flood protection.
