CITY, ND – The Valley City Community Gardens Annual Meeting will be held Tuesday, April 21, at 7 p.m. in the Gathering Room at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

Co-event coordinator Stephanie Mayfield gave a few details about the Community Garden project in Valley City on our Voice of the Valley program with Steve Urness.

2015 Season Contracts available at that meeting for signing as well as a short business meeting.  There are three VCCG Board Member positions that are up for election:  Diane Heuser, Carol Umsted, and Sheryl Solberg.  They are each on the ballot for another 3 year term.  We also have two open seats on our steering committee and will entertain nominations from the floor that evening.

In addition, we will have treats available, door prizes, and two panel discussions.  One panel will answer any gardening questions and will consist of Don Bauer (our VCCG Garden King), Carol Umsted, and Renee Hazelton.  The second  panel will discuss the ND Hunger Free partnership with the ND Department of Agriculture and how we distributed 2000 pounds of fresh produce to those in need in Barnes County last year and how we will move forward again this year.

If you cannot make the meeting, you are welcome to stop by the NDSU Extension Office (2nd floor of the Barnes County Courthouse) between 8:00am and 5:00pm  M-F to pay your fees and sign the contract beginning April 22.

If you know you are not going to garden this year (or would like to reduce the number of plots you have) please let the VCCG committee know as soon as possible or no later than May 1st or your plot will be made available for rent.
