N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced spring release plans for both the Jamestown Reservoir and Pipestem Creek Reservoir.
According to the Corps, Pipestem is currently at a pool elevation of 1,445 feet, which results in 1.7% of the flood pool being occupied. Inflows are at 40 cfs with no reservoir release. Jamestown Reservoir is at a pool elevation of 1,430 feet, which is one foot below the base of the flood pool. Inflows are currently at 10 cfs with no release. The maximum combined release from the reservoirs is not expected to exceed 200 cfs.
The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers states that significant rainfall could necessitate higher release levels. The upper James River Basin is currently in abnormally dry to moderate drought conditions according to the US Drought Monitor, which could decrease rainfall runoff into the reservoirs.
