ROCKFORD, ND (NewsDakota.com) After a two-run homer by clean-up batter Easton Paeper put Carrington up 7-3 in the top of the fourth, the Blacksox would score three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to get within one, but the Cardinals relief pitcher Braxton Hewitt would shut the door the last two and a two-third innings to help secure the 7-6 victory. The Cardinals get their first Region 3 victory and first victory of the year and are 1-0, the Blacksox drop to 0-1.
Brady Smith was the winning pitcher for Carrington, Smith was 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and scored two runs. Hewitt picked up the save for Carrington. Paeper was 1-for-2 with a homer and two RBI. Carrington stole 10 bases, Jayden Rosenau had four. Seth Gilliss took the loss for SNR and was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Eric Anderson was 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBI and two runs scored for the Blacksox.
