N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – At approximately 12:03 AM this morning, the Jamestown Police Department was alerted by a convenience store employee of a suspected intoxicated individual leaving the store.

The officer attempted to approach the subject, who then entered his vehcile and left at a high rate of speed with the officer pursuing. The subject headed south on Highway 281 with other officers becoming involved. The suspect turned his vehicle on the officers, ramming two patrol vehicles.

The suspect stopped his vehicle numerous times and allowed officers to approach. Each time officers approached, he would flee. The suspect finally stopped on the 1000 block of 4th Avenue Southwest. As an officer approached the vehicle, he avoided being run over by the suspect.

At this time, officials with the Jamestown Police Department and Stutsman County Sheriff’s Officer discharged their weapons, striking the suspect. The suspect was transported to the Jamestown Regional Medical Center for his injuries. He was the lone occupant of the vehicle.

The suspect is a 43 year-old male from Tracy, Minnesota and was placed under arrest for Felony DUI, Fleeing or attempting to elude in a motor vehicle, Reckless endangerment and Criminal Mischief.

Law Enforcement officials that were involved are now on administrative leave and the investigation of the incident has been turned over to the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

The Police were assisted by the NDHP, Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office and the Jamestown Area Ambulance.
