CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The first two phases of the flood buyout process in Valley City are over and here are the results of the assessed values, appraisals and final purchase prices. There were 33 properties in the first phase of the buyout and they are listed below:

On another note the city of Valley City paid David Singleton $42,552 to reimburse him for damage done to his property at 740 Main Street East due to work associated with the permanent flood protection project that involved landscaping issues with his property.

75 percent of the funding for Valley City flood buyouts was appropriated through the State Water Commission. The local share is 25 percent according to Valley City officials.
