N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – North Dakota’s first-ever summit focused on local foods will be April 14th and 15th at the Rough Riders Hotel in Medora.

The Summit on Local Economies event was made possible with a USDA Rural Business Opportunity Grant and will encourage economic activity in rural areas. The summit will be for everyone and anyone interested in building local food systems as well as economic developers, job development authorities and businesses.

Keynote speaker Ken Meter of Crossroads Resource Center will talk about the role of local foods in oil country. Meter is one of the most experienced food system analysts in the U.S. Sessions will also be held to collect ideas and thoughts about business plans and the feasibility of a light processing center.
