Stowman, age 56, of Valley City, ND, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Valley City. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 13th, 2015 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Oriska, ND. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church on Friday morning. Inurment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery near Valley City in the spring.
Keith was born June 3, 1958, in Valley City to Clinton and Laura (Price) Stowman. He graduated from Oriska High School in 1976. He served in the US Navy from 1977 to 1981. Keith attended North Dakota State University and graduated with a degree in computer science in 1990. He moved to San Diego where he began his career as a software engineer. Keith took great pride in his work and he truly enjoyed his years at ImageWare Systems, Inc. in San Diego.
Year-around warm weather and golf drew Keith to San Diego where he lived from 1990 to May 2014. Golfing with his friends every Saturday was a tradition that he enjoyed for many years. He also enjoyed time spent fishing with family and friends. Each summer Keith looked forward to helping with the harvest at the family farm near Tower City.
Keith is survived by his parents, Clinton and Laura Stowman of Valley City, ND; his siblings, Patrick (Meridee) Stowman of Tower City, ND, Donna (Buzz) Byzewski of Fargo, ND, Kathy (Darrell) Berglund of Hazen, ND, Mark (Shirley) Stowman of Tower City, ND, Bill (Angela) Stowman of Peach Tree City, GA; and nieces and nephews, Jessica (Mark) Hill, Perry (Amanda) Stowman, Andy (Pam) Byzewski, Sara Berglund, Jordan (Kayla) Berglund, Mike (Jessica) Stowman, Matthew Stowman, Arin Stowman, William Stowman and Alex Stowman.
Keith was preceded in death by his grandparents, Perry and Gladys Stowman, and Frank and Leopoldina Price.
On behalf of Keith, his family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Preston Steen at Roger Maris Cancer Center for providing outstanding medical care; to Mercy Hospital for their compassionate care during Keith’s final weeks; and Sister Dorothy Bunce for her gentle spiritual support which brought Keith tremendous peace and comfort. We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to Keith’s work family at ImageWare Systems, Inc. whose support enabled Keith to continue working even after he moved back to ND to be close to family and friends while receiving cancer treatment.
