CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Local law enforcement agencies are asking their respective city and county boards to hire more peace officers before the construction of the Cenex Harvest States fertilizer plant gets into high gear. Barnes County Sheriff Randy McClaflin is asking to hire one more deputy.

McClaflin says it better to be prepared before some 2,000 workers arrive for the first phase of construction.

Valley City Police Chief Fred Thompson told the city commissioners last night that he would be making a request to hire one more police officer due to the expected population spike later this year in the region.
