N.D.(NewsDakota) The Valley City Hi-Liners basketball teams split their games at the Spartandome at Fargo North High School on Friday night with the girls picking up a 63-55 win and the boys falling to the Spartans 86-40.
Girls: Valley City 63 Fargo North 55
Following the slogan, next girl up the Hi-Liners found their scoring form a player who wasn’t even on the varsity team the first time the Spartans and Hi-Liners met back on December 9th.
Freshmen guard Reagan Ingstad was lights out from behind the arch knocking down five three-pointers and scoring a game high 19 points. The outstanding shooting allowed the Hi-Liners to erease a five point deficit at the half to claim a eight point win.
Brenna Dieterle finished the night with 11 points and 7 rebounds coming up just shy of a double-double for the Hi-Liners. Teammate Sadie Klingenberg also finished in double digits with 10 points in the win.
The Spartans were led by Annika Kjar’s 14 points and eight rebounds.
The win advance Valley City to 5-6 in the EDC and they jump Wahpeton in the standing taking over sixth place. They are just one game behind Devils Lake.
Boys: Valley City 40 Fargo North 86
In the boys game, Fargo North scored the first eleven points before the Hi-Liners got on the score board. With crisp passing, the Spartans kept the Hi-Liners guessing where and who was going to take the shot.
While Nate Rodriguez scored a game high 22 points, not much else went right for the Hi-Liners. Valley’s Jared Lentz who is currently second in the EDC in scoring with 18 points a game, was held to just 4 in the Spartandome.
On offense, Bryce Schroeder posted an impressive 19 points helping the Spartans to a dominating win.
The loss drops Valley City to 2-9 on the year with a 1-9 EDC record.
The Hi-Liners boys and girls return home on Tuesday when they host Fargo Davies in a double header at the Hi-Liner Activity Center. Play starts at 4:45pm when the girls take the court. Games can be heard on 1490 KOVC.
