(NewsDakota.com) – Two West Region rivals collided in boys hockey Friday night at Wilson Arena, as Jamestown hosted Minot. The game went to the buzzer with the Magi pulling out a 4-3 victory.
The Jays led 2-1 after one, thanks to goals by Nick Stockert and Jared Schultz. Things took a major change early in period #2 when Minot struck for three goals in a span of 61 seconds and bumped their lead to 4-2.
Stockert scored his second of the game with a power play goal early in the third to draw Jamestown with-in one, but the Jays couldn’t get the equalizer.
The Magicians out shot Jamestown 41-19. Blue Jay Goalie Brian Wenzel came up with 37 saves. “Their a good team for a reason” said head coach Matt Stockert, “They did a nice job containing us”
Jamestown slides to 5-7 over-all and 5-5 in the West Region. Minot continues to climb the ladder in the conference with a 6-1-1 record and improve to 8-4-1 over-all.
Next up for the Blue Jays is a home game with Dickinson on Tuesday night at Wilson Arena, with the drop of the puck set for 7:30 pm.
