CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Hi-Liners girls basketball team ended a five game skid in the Eastern Dakota Conference Saturday night with a 66-53 win over West Fargo Sheyenne at the Hi-Liner Activity Center.

The win advances the Hi-Liners to 3-6 on the season and 2-6 record in the EDC. The Mustangs fall to 0-8 both overall and in the conference.

While the Hi-liners were the first to get on the scoreboard, the opening of the game belonged to West Fargo Sheyenne. The Mustangs jumped out to an early lead with seven of their eleven three pointers coming in the first 10 minutes of the game. While the Hi-Liners were down they were not out. Going on a 10-0 run to end the second half Valley would cut the Mustangs lead to just four at the break.

In the second half the Hi-liners evened the game up when Rebekah Peterson hit a couple of free throws. She would finish the night 7-of-8 from the charity stripe with a game high 21 points. The two teams would trade leads for much of the second half before the Hi-Liners capped off the victory.

Peterson’s 21 went nicely with 10 point nights from Sadie Klingenberg, Brenna Dieterle and Tarryn Justesen.

The Mustangs were led on the score sheet by Kalli Hegerle who battled down in the post for 12 points.
