(NewsDakota.com) School officials in Oakes have issued a notice to parents regarding “multiple cyber bullying issues” within the past 24 hours stemming from use of a social media app known as Yik- Yak.
The app allows posts from users that are anonymous. School officials note they will continue to work towards to try to resolve the issues, and are asking parents to monitor their children’s phones.
Since being released in 2013, Yik-Yak has faced much controversy over the app being used as a cyber-bullying tool. The app has been banned by some school nationwide, including several districts in Chicago, as noted in a March 2014 story in the Chicago Tribune.
