(NewsDakota.com) Blaze Irwin scored his 1,00th point in his career as the Wahpeton Boys Basketball team defeated Valley City 66-39 on Tuesday night in Eastern Dakota Conference play.

The Huskies (7-1 7-0 EDC) trailed only once, at the start of the game down 2-0. Irwin, who will be attending Minot State University next fall to continue his academic and athletic career scored a game high 24 points, eclipsing the 1,000 threshold in the early minutes of the first half on a three point basket; one of four from beyond the arc on the evening.

The Hi-Liners, who fell to 1-5 overall and 1-4 in EDC play had 24 points at half, and only managed to add another 15 points in the second 18 minutes of regulation play. Ian Schweitzer scored a team high 11 points in the loss.

Valley City hosts Lisbon on January 10.
