D.C. (NewsDakota.com) – North Dakota Senators have been pushing for the XL Pipeline and beginning today, they’ll get a chance to bring it before the 114th Congress.
U.S. Senator John Hoeven along with Senator Joe Manchin of Virginia will be introducing legislation to approve the Keystone XL pipeline project under Congress’s authority. The senators, who both serve on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, are working to bring the bill to the floor for debated and open process for amendments.
The legislation authorizes TransCanada to construct and operate the Keystone XL Pipeline from Alberta, Canada to the U.S. Gulf Coast, transporting an additional 830,000 barrels of oil per day to U.S. refineries. This will include 100,000 barrels of oil a day from the Bakeen region of North Dakota and Montana.
