CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) North Dakota Senator John Hoeven says construction on a new .8 million National Guard maintenance center in Valley City was welcome news for local guard members who are operating in a cramped space. Hoeven toured the existing facility Friday at the Barnes County Airport.

Groundbreaking on the new 30,000 square foot vehicle maintenance shop will start in 2015 near John Deere Seeding. The completion date is 2016.

Hoeven says the next step is to provide funding for the proposed Readiness Center. He says that will be on a five year plan and may not be appropriated until 2021.
