CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) A few Barnes County residents who live near a rail crossing near the Peak elevator have filed complaints with the Sheriff’s office about the length of time County Road 27 has been blocked.
Sheriff Randy McClaflin says his office has issued citations to Burlington Northern Santa Fe and Canadian Pacific Railway about the situation recently.
McClaflin says the citations against the railroad companies have gone nowhere. Now he says we will present the matter to the Public Service Commission to seek their opinion or advice.
The rail crossing in question is along Country Road 27 some two miles north of the Interstate 94 Peak exit near the Peak elevator east of Valley City.
