Ann Kruta, age 84, of Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, December 10th at Elim Care Center in Fargo. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 18th at 2:00 PM at West Funeral Home Chapel in West Fargo, ND. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 at the Elim Care Center Chapel in Fargo, ND. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN in the spring.
Ruth Ann Nelson, the daughter on Leonard C. and Anna (Rasmussen) Nelson, was born October 29, 1930 in Forest City, Iowa. She grew up and attended school in Forest City and graduated from Forest City High School in 1948. She attended Waldorph College in Forest City and Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, MN. She graduated in March, 1952 as a Registered Nurse. After graduation, she worked as an RN in Harlingen, TX for the Red Cross during a Polio epidemic. She later worked in Minneapolis at the Sister Kenny Institute. She then moved to Sitka, Alaska where she worked on a Naval Base. She returned to Crookston, MN where she worked as a school nurse at Northwest School of Agriculture. On April 30, 1955 she married Jaroslav Kruta. During her early married life she split her time between the Northwest School and during the summers worked at Hennepin General Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. In 1964, she became the elementary school nurse with the Warren Public Schools. In 1970, she moved to Red Lake Falls, MN and worked as a Public Health Nurse for Red Lake County. During this time she obtained a Bachelor of Health in Public Health. During the summers, she worked with Migrant Health Services doing health checks in the Red River Valley area. In 1979, she moved back to Warren, MN where she worked as a Public Health Nurse for Marshall County. In the summer of 1984, she began working for Migrant Health Services in Clay County and in the winters would work as a Hospice Nurse until her retirement in 2000. After her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family and with her friends. She also greatly enjoyed following politics.
Ruth Ann is survived by her two children, Clark (Stephanie) Kruta, Valley City, ND and Carrie (Richard) Butler, Casselton, ND; four grandchildren, Soren Butler, Mari Butler, Benjamin Kruta and Nicholas Kruta.
Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother, Chris Nelson, two sisters, Helen Boman and Marian Amundson.
